NTI-ACTU: Adamu Emerges new Chairman, as Mrs. Bilkisu Gives Health Reason for Resignation
Mrs. Bilkisu Yakubu, the pioneer Chairperson of NTI‘s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit(ACTU) has resigned from her position.
Information reaching the Bulletin, which was later confirmed in an event organised in her honour by ACTU disclosed that Mrs. Bilkisu Yakubu, a Deputy Director in Field Operations and Students’ Services (FOSS)Department resigned specifically for health reason.
She made the disclosure in an event organised in her honour by the members of ACTU on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the ACTU Secretariat, NTI Conference Centre.
‘’I am not running away, but my health issue is the biggest challenge, that is why I dropped and I believe I have capable hands to continue from where I stopped.
‘’ You have been my pillars in ACTU, because of the cooperation you gave me, ‘’ she said.
She sought the same support and cooperation of members for the new Acting Chairman, Comrade Adamu Musa.
She enjoined members not to see her departure as a weakness, but as a necessity because of the condition she finds herself.
Bilkisu advised ACTU to carry out more sensitisation workshops for staff of the Institute in order to create more awareness on the activities of ACTU and how to curb corruption in our society.
She thanked the Institute’s management for giving ACTU a beautiful well furnished office accommodation.
Speaking earlier, Comrade Adamu Musa, in his opening remarks said that the main aim of the event is to celebrate the pioneer Chairperson of ACTU for her contribution towards the development of the Unit.
‘’She can’t go like that, we must confer on her an award, an anti-corruption award as an appreciation for her contribution to the fight against corruption in NTI and the country at large,’’ he said.
Commenting at the event separately, Mal. Muhammad S. Abdullahi, a member of ACTU , wished Bilkisu well in her future endeavour and Bassi Bitrus said that she had a good mission in ACTU and had done it.
Speaking also, Mal. Hashimu described her as someone that dedicated her life to humanity, by laying a solid foundation for ACTU to operate in NTI.
Mal. Habiba Tukur Maigari , wished the outgoing chairperson well and Allah’s guidance and protection. She disclosed that she learnt a lot under her leadership as Chairperson.
