Malam Yunusa Labaran, Ag. Bursar
Malam Yunusa Danbala Labaran, the hitherto Deputy Bursar of the Institute, has been appointed as Acting Bursar with effect from June 25, 2018. He succeeded Mrs Margaret Akojie, who bowed out of the Institute’s service on the same day, having reached the mandatory retirement age of 60. A letter conveying the appointment dated June 22, from the Office of Prof Garba Dahuwa Azare, the NTI Director-General and Chief Executive said: “ It is hoped that you will bring to bear your wealth of experience in financial management for increased value addition, efficiency, productivity and quality service delivery to the Institute’s diverse stakeholders.’’
Labaran who hailed from Sumaila Local Government Area of Kano State, began his early education in 1973, where he attended United Native African(UNA) Primary School, Gwari Road, Kaduna; Government Day Secondary School, Kakuri, Kaduna, as one of the pioneer students and graduated in 1984. He attended the famous Kaduna Polytechnic for the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma Courses in Accounting and Finance and graduated in 1989 and 1995 respectively. Our man of the moment who also earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in finance from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi also bagged another Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the famous Bayero University, Kano in addition to attending the Nigeria College of Accountancy, Jos.
The newly-appointed Acting Bursar is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI); Fellow, Certified National Accountants of Nigeria (FCNA) and member, Financial Reporting council of Nigeria (FRcN). He held forte severally as the Institute’s Accountant in Niger, Imo, Kaduna, Ekiti States as well as holding same position at the headquarters in addition to serving Assistant Chief Internal Auditor, Chief Internal Auditor, Assistant Director (Head of Internal Audit)Assistant Bursar and Deputy Bursar. Labaran who had attended and contributed immensely in numerous local and international workshops, seminars and retreats which among others, included the National Revenue Retreat (NRR) and a stint in Budgetary and Control Course at the NewCastle University in the United Kingdom, is married with children.
