DG NTI Confered with Honourary Doctorate Degree

Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare, the Director-General and Chief Executive of the National Teachers’ Institute, Kaduna, has been conferred with an Honourary Doctorate Degree (Honoris Causa) in Education by the Commonwealth University, London.

Mal. Bashir Mamman, the NTI Director of Examinations, who received the award at the ceremony on behalf of Azare, mentioned that the event which took place on Wednesday, March 27  at the Arabian Court Yard, Bur Dubai, UAE, was in recognition of Prof. Azare’s  immense contribution to educational development not only in Nigeria, but worldwide.

“Very prominent and distinguished personalities who excelled in various fields from different countries worldwide were  nominated and awarded with the Honourary Doctorate Degrees. This is indeed a pride not only to the Director-General and Chief Executive, but to the Institute and the country at large,” Mamman said. 

According to him, the glamorous and star-studded event was organised by the London Graduate School in collaboration with Commonwealth University, which is a consortium of Universities in the British Commonwealth.

He explained that the event which lasted between Wednesday March 27 and Friday March 29, also featured a seminar where several academics of international repute delivered papers on leadership and e-learning in addition to the awards of Honourary Degrees as well as a guided tour of the city of Dubai.

Mamman told the Bulletin that those who participated at the seminar were mostly Vice Chancellors of Universities, Registrars , Bursars, Chief Librarians and Chief  Executives of agencies and parastatals across the world.

The statement contained on the certificate issued reads: “On recommendation of the faculty, we confer upon Prof. Garba Dahuwa Azare, the degree of  Doctor honoris causa in Education. Together with all the rights and privileges thereunto appertaining in witness whereof the seal of the University and signature of its officers are hereunto affixed.”
