Dr. Bala Commended at KOICA Conference
Dr. Ibrahim Bala, a Deputy Director in the NTI Dept. of Examinations, receiving an award of Excellence from Prof. Kim Yung Chul, the Director, National Education Training Institute of Korea.
Dr. Ibrahim Bala, a Deputy Director in the NTI Department of Examinations has been commended and given an award by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for his performance at a two-week training workshop on capacity building for educational administrators in South-Korea.
The workshop, which took place between May 23 and June 5, 2019, was for capacity building for Education Administrators with the objective of training and sharing the “Korean experience,’’ on its education systems and development.
Bala, made a brilliant presentation titled: “Teacher Training programmes of the National Teachers’ Institute, Nigeria, ’’ which earned him applause and commendation during the workshop.
Bala told the Bulletin that participants at the workshop were drawn from Nigeria, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Iraq, Zanzibar, Tanzania and Myanmar.
He revealed that the participants appreciated how the Institute’s centres are spread nationwide and its mode of operations.
According to him, his presentation categorised Nigerian teachers into “ under qualified, unqualified and qualified teachers.’’
“We shared ideas with other participants, most specially on teacher training and development,’’ he said.
He revealed that the workshop also explored possible areas of partnership between the Institute and Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA) especially on digital literacy training of Nigerian teachers, which attracts more areas of partnership.
The Bulletin reports that the workshop was organised by the KOICA and the National Education Training Institute, Ministry of Education, under the International Cooperation Programme of the Government of Korea.
